I assume you are flying for flights departing from ICN ?

If it is then it is not really not more choice than before, 3 out of the 4 Korean options are on their pre-order menus, Chinese also in their pre-order menus, the rest are available inflight if you don't pre-order.

It is the exact number of choices like for years they have done before if you had flown OZ F prior for flights out of ICN, instead you can now do it by email instead of calling.

Yes its ICN >LAX is when you can choose. This menu is new to me because when I flew F back in Nov-11 I got an email with only two choices.

1. Korean Food:

BI-BIM-BAB
Oxtail Soup

2. Western Food:

Steak
Beef Skewers
Caviar

However if you look at the actual menus, it listed all the choices (both pre-ordered and available inflight) similar to those you just saw from your email.

If you have a round-trip xxx-ICN-xxx ticket, you will be asked for your selection at your first check-in of the trip.

Never heard they ask at ORD or HKG, given both cities OZ use 3rd parties company for checkin in though.

I previously had the Lobster, departing LAX in F.

It was almost impossible to turn down- hey it's lobster!! But in my opinion, it's just not a food that travels well onto an airplane. Check a similar feeling on TG in their pre-order meal section as well... I'd avoid Lobster.

I am not sure why would you use TG to compare in terms of food, I mean TG is basically inconsistent in EVERYTHING ! Everyone complain about lobster in the TG forum or basically any food with TG, but everyone praise lobster with SQ !

Did you have the full half lobster in the shell as entree ? Or was it for appetizer ?

I hadn't had lobster as entree with OZ for a while, but in the past lobster was one of the regular entree in F like steak no matter long haul or short haul as long as it was F. (had lobster on ICN-HKG in F too !) OZ's lobster entree was comparable to SQ F's lobster thermidor !

I am not sure why folks are complaining about TG lobster. But people like to complain on TG forum. On my last OZ ICN-FRA in F they run out of Taittinger Then they run out of Pol Roger Well - it is what it is... If this would happen on TG with Dom (never happened to me) there would already be 200 threads how inconsistent TG is... There were even some folks (non-Thais) complying that 'my Pad Thai incorrectly cooked'... Yes their Tesco or Walmart frozen Pad Thai is for sure better...

I normally order lobster flying from CDG or FRA and is is excellent.

It was the main course, described as Grilled Lobster, served with Saffron Tomato Sauce, potato and vegetables.

It was tasty, but just not really for me. As to whether that was inconsistent with TG, I can't say having only flown TG F once- but I think I would have chosen another menu item instead the next time I fly Asiana F.
