need help with visa to Vietnam

I intend to visit Vietnam next month and get a visa on arrival. I google and find some visa services but I do not know if they are good or not.

Thank you everyone!

So if I understand properly, I can just work with www.vietnamstay.com in advance, and as long as they and I get everything completed the visa will be ready for me when I go through immigration in Ho Chi Minh city? I won't have to send off my passport or anything now?

Thanks for the clarification.

My wife and i go to vietnam several times a year (german / us passports)
We both apply for visas at the San Franzisco consulate.
Fill out the form, mail a passport copy, 2 pictures, return envelopeand a check for the fees. No need to send the passports (even if it says so on the website). Works perfect.

Check

No, you don't have to send off your passport. The counter where you'll get your Visa is on the left side as you enter the Immigration Hall. Be sure you have US Dollars to pay the fee and your Visa photo(s). If possible, have Vietnam Stay send you the form you'll need to fill out when you talk to the Immigration Officer. This will save you 5-10 minutes of waiting.

I'm leaving October 7, but would like to begin the paperwork now. So, if anyone out there knows, what is the CURRENT VISA FEE?

while I cant answer your question, I can give you a comparison to other countries:
the embassy in Germany wanted 55 EUR (ca 76 USD)
the embassy in Switzerland wanted 75 CHF (ca 68 USD)

so I got mine in Berne (14 days tourist visa, single entry)

I am traveling to Vietnam in October and am going to do the online visa application. Will I still need to bring two passport photos with me along with the preapproval letter?

The consulate in San Francisco quoted me the Visa fee to be $85 as of Wednesday, June 17, 2009.
