Kuala Lumpur Chinatown Accomodations
 

Hello,

I heard that Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown had some of the cheapest accommodations in KL. I just had a couple of questions regarding the hotels there.

1. How is the quality of the hotels?
2. How much should I expect to pay?
3. Where do I find these hotels?
4. Is there a good website I can use to book them?

Well, a lot is your expectation. Higher end is AnCasa, on the edge of Chinatown and near the always entertaining Puduraya Bus Terminal. If you like Fellini movies, you'll like the Puduraya Bus Terminal.

I stayed at a hostel , room by myself , right across from the bus station for 35 ringet ($10 US )

there was a much nicer place that wanted 125 ringet but I was only going to be there for 3-4 hours and just wanted a place to lay down. its right across from the bus station,

I got there at 11pm and left at 4am so did not really see the area much

The site mentioned by rjh, Asia Travel is a good one. I have used them a number of times. I have heard good things about Swiss Inn. If you want a place a little less crowded than Swiss Inn, try Swiss Garden Hotel on Jalan Pudu, just before Bukit Bintag. They have a an extensive spread in their breakfast buffet. You can also try Asia Hotels

You cant get more central than the Swiss Inn on Petaling.
Five star it is not, but you cant beat the location. Go for the room with windows.

5 years ago when I was a poor student I stayed at the ExcelInn on Petaling (opposite the Swiss) for about 35RM a night. But that was just a box with a bed :D

Ok, so I've decided to go with Swiss Inn. Does anybody know the cheapest and easiest way to get there? I hope it's not too hard to find. Thanks!

Uh, starting from where? It's walking distance from the Puduraya bus terminal, Pasar Seni LRT, and Majarajalela Monorail. There's some confusion in the placemarks if one does a search on Google Maps. The lobby is on Jl Sultan, south of Jl Hang Lekir. The layout of Jl Sultan is somewhat confusing in this area. It goes from North/South to West/East in this area and keeps the same name.

Try firing up Google Maps and doing a search on, let's see, Swiss Inn, Kuala Lumpur, MY.

We walked there from the monorail station, but I wouldnt suggest that with luggage. A taxi from KL Sentral was 15RM (coupon).

During the day it will be easy to spot from Petaling, but when the market is on, the back entrance is the way to find it, and only one accessible by car

Whoops sorry for not specifying. I'm arriving to KL from the international airport.

It would also depend on the number of travellers and on how much luggage you have got. If you are by yourself and haven;t got much luggage, KLIA express will take you to KL Sentral for RM 35, from where you can take LRT. If you have got luggae and or there are more of you, a taxi would be beter.
