Mongolia Visa on arrival
I have to go to Mongolia on the weekend, and the travel agency of my contractor told me that I would be able to enter Mongolia with a visa I will get a ULN airport. I have done that several times in 2002/2003, but something reminds me that I was asked to present a letter of invitation. Has anyone on this board done it recently? What are your experiences?

This is the information provided on the Consulate General Sydney's website:
Visa on Arrival Single-entry visas are available on arrival at Chinggis Khan (Ulaanbaatar) Airport only. The cost is US$50 plus service fee of US$3. They are available as a service for travellers who cannot normally obtain a visa at their starting point or who are travelling at short notice. They are not available for train travellers, who must have a valid visa before arrival at the border. The OINFC has requested that travellers who wish to obtain a visa on arrival notify the Consulate-General in Sydney by email in advance of their travel: (i) their full name; (ii) date of birth, (iii) citizenship; (iv) passport number and (v) expiry date, together with the date of arrival and flight number. The Consulate will then forward this information to the OINFC and confirm with the applicant. No mention of needing an invite. |
Americans don't need visas to enter Mongolia. I didn't know that Germans did.
