In November my friend and I will have 2 nights in Saigon. We are staying in the city center in District 1. Any current recommendations for dinner? I have not had a lot of Vietnamese food before. Would be open to one quintessential Vietnamese food experience and one night of just a great dining experience no matter what the ethnicity.

For Vietnamese, you could try Ngon or Hoa Tuc. For non-Vietnamese there are a couple of good restaurants operated by Tony Fox.... Saffron and Ciao Bella. Chill has great views. If you like Japanese, Blanchy St. is good but pricey.

Thanks, I will look into those. One of the things I have concluded from my research is that perhaps we should do a street food tour for one of the nights. It seems that we will get to try a bunch of authentic options and see the city at the same time.

Bumping an old thread to solicit current recommendations. Will be in Saigon for three nights, but flight times mean we have probably just one night when we could dine at a regular restaurant.
Went to a great modern VN restaurant in a delightful shophouse or maybe villa in District 3 the last time we were there, but can't remember the name. I don't think it was Banh Xeo 46A. Might have been Cuc Gach Quan.

Cuc Gach Quan is a nice restaurant with good food - just make sure to make a reservation because they get busy.
I also recommend pizza 4ps next to ben thanh market (good japanese pizza).
