Advise for Phuket in May
Traveling to Thailand in May. For the beach part of the trip I'm thinking around Karon on Phuket. Having researched and searched forum entries, I know May could be a bit wet/rainy. Should I consider the west coast, gulf coast, or ? island for the best warmth/dry weather? Looking to chill, hang on the beach, swim, etc. for 4-5 days somewhere before returning to BKK. Thanks in advance for any advise.

I'll be there beginning of May at the Marriott in Phuket. Looking forward to some very early morning golf and the rest of the day in the sun/by the pool!

I've been to Phuket twice in May. The weather up at the Marriott was always very nice but I've had fairly steady rain in Karon.

I was in Phuket (Patong Beach) in mid/late April last year. The weather was very good. Some showers should be expected though. Not a problem in my opinion; plenty of sun. However, it is very hot in Thailand in April/May (The hottest season). Dec-Feb is much more pleasant in terms of temperature.

The best place to check for weather history and monthly averages is at: Phuket Weather.
May does tend to be the wettest month here - but often times the rain is in the middle of the night and/or a short tropical downpour in the afternoon (after which the sky clears). There are though, sometimes but not often, several days of continous rain. |
Sorry Mate
May is not th wetest month. October is. Actually if there is rain in May likely at night or at the end of the month as April will be hot hot hot, no problem as Songrkan will cool everybody for a few days... I tend to use Tuk tuks at night and my hotel provide umprellas in both the room at a fromt desk.....If anyone would like to PM me on Patong etc. I've made more that 20 visits ther in the last 5 years or so...PM's may be better for this topic?!@@#$

I was in Phuket late May - it rained continuously - and we stayed at Karon too. Saying that the island is beautiful and well worth a visit. |
June/July/August Weather
Alright, May has been pretty good
Is there any difference between June,July and August ? Planning my next trip and want to minimise the number of raining days. Thanks. |
I just returned from Phuket - 14-20th. 1/3 of the time it rained. I easily got burned with SPF 30 the rest of the time!

Is the weather going to get "progressively" worse as we get closer to Sept ? or will it be fairly "uniform" for the next 3/4 months ? |
