Hotel in Phuket - suggestions

Hi all,

from mid-november to mid-december I will be in Phuket with my spouse three times for three or four nights each.

Any suggestions for a good and cosy hotel? Upper limit around 150USD/room and night.

I would prefer Kata or Kata Noi Beach over Patong beach - but any suggestions welcome.

Any experience with the Aspasia?

Thanks.

My suggestion is well within your budget - The Karon Beach Resort which is the only hotel actually on Karon Beach. It is only a 3star but is very comfortable. The other hotel I like is Le Meridian Beach Resort which is on is on its own private beach just south of Patong. Sorry have no personal experience of staying at hotels on Kata but have heard that the Kata Thani is nice and there is always The Boathouse but I think it is too built up around it now.

I have stayed at the Hilton in Karon, the Kata Beach hotel in Kata, and the JW Marriott in the north. None of those hotels could be described as 'cosy' though.
A budget of up to $150 will get you very far in Phuket. In my experience even the 5 :-: hotels are around $100 (the Hilton is less and so is the JW if you use Priceline).

You should also try a search. Phuket hotels are discussed a lot.

The JW Marriott is an amazing place, set on a very long and unspoiled beach. Only real downside is its remoteness from other (non-Marriott) tourist facilities. If you're able to keep a rented car there, you're not a hostage.
