Phuket or Krabi in August?

Hi,

I'm planning a short 5-day beach trip to Thailand this August and I'm torn between going to The Racha in Phuket (which will be reopening mid-August) or to Tubkaak in Krabi.

I realize the weather is not the best this time of year in either location, but I was wondering if one location would be slightly better than the other?

I'd also appreciate any other thoughts you could provide to help me with my choice.

Thanks,
FlyerBeek

It actually doesn't rain that much even though it is the rainy season on the west coast of Thailand. We were in Phuket for 3 weeks last July/Aug it it only rained a few times and only once was it wet all day a quick downpour and then sunshine with a few clouds. A couple of years ago we were in Koh Samui in Aug (dry season) whilst my sister was in Phuket and we had more rain than she did!
I haven't been to Krabi so can't recommend 1 over the other but parts of Phuket are lovely. The only problem in the wet season is that the sea is a little rougher and unless you are staying in a resort with lifeguards on the beach you will find red flags flying.
