Budget Osaka hotel recommendations

Planning a trip to Osaka with four people, two couples. Any suggestions on reasonable accomodations? We just need a place to stay that is close to a train or subway station. It's hard to get over the realization that in Japan, for the most part, a double room costs twice as much as a single room.

You may as well rent two singles. . . although my wife might raise an objection. . . or maybe she won't. :p

How adventurous are you? The cheapest option for couples is to stay in a love hotel, but be warned that these aren't exactly designed for tourists: overnight "stay" rates only start after 10 PM and you usually can't leave without checking out.

Over the years, I've stayed at "love" hotels many a time. The downside is that you can check in only after around 10 pm and must leave early the next morning. Granted, the rooms are clean, spacious and . . . ummm.. . unique in decor. . . not to mention inexpensive but it's really not the way to plan a trip, imho. Maybe it's because I'm no longer a spring chicken. :p

See below. That is the most famouse and the biggest site for hotel search in Japan. If you stay at love hotel, you would be charged for four persons' fee and maybe it is very expensive. In Japan the cheapest way to stay is to stay at `capsule-hotel`. But the floor is separated by sex, so it is not a good idea for you this time. Some ryokan and business-hotel is sometimes cheaper than capsule-hotel, so anyway, seach through `tabino-madoguchi`. :)

If you stay any hotels, the rate is per room and per night. It is not twice.
Or, if you stay RYOKAN, it is per person.

When are you going to go to Osaka?

Hokke Club

The newly renovated Hokke Club (Tel: +81 6-6313-3171/ Fax: +81 6-6313-4637) is basic, but close to the heart of Umeda. Twin rooms are only Y8400 a night.
