Malaysia in October

Hi,

we are planing to travel to Malaysia during the last two weeks of october. We would love to spend some time at a nice beach. As far as I understood the weather Langkawi is our only option? Everything on the east coast should be soaked by then.
Thanks

It's been observed that the monsoon season isn't as reliable as it used to be, with long dry stretches when it is suppose to be wet and west stretches when it is supposed to be dry. Might be due to ENSO effects getting stronger or out of whack.

actually oct is the wettest month for langkawi historically. the east coast (tioman) can be still dry depending on when monsoon arrives, but end of oct is really close

I'm not a big fan of Langkawi, so I'm probably not the best person to recommend it. The beaches aren't worth going out of your way for in my opinion. The water, while clearer than some other West Coast areas, still isn't that clear. Phuket has a similar weather pattern, as it's in between wet and dry seasons. However, I think the weather should be better, but you never know.

Have you thought about Phu Quoc, Vietnam? The weather should be better in October. it's a non-stop flight. I haven't been in almost 15 years, and that was prior to the airport, so I'm sure it's much more built up.

Perhentian Islands

Due to the eastern monsoon, the best time to visit the Perhentian Islands is effectively limited to the beginning of March or April until late October.

They're certainly an option, weather-wise, as it's the end of the dry season. They are fairly touristy, with lots of day-trippers.

Thanks, thats a lot of information. I will definitly check out Phu Quoc. I know that it is not the best time to travel to Malaysia, but it was not possible to move it.

I think in the past several few years, the weather on the east coast has been clear all the way till November, weather patterns did change.
If you dont have to book right now, perhaps keep it open till the last minute.
