Wondering if this Visa free entry for Nationals of China, Japan, Indonesia, India, Russia & Thailand has come into force as yet ?

It has but it looks it is a free visa but still need to apply for the ETA beforehand. You simply do not pay according to what I know.

There was a similar thread over on Trip Advisor's forum from about a week back where they mentioned that a fee was still being collected.
Will try and locate the thread.
