If I have 7 nights/8 days to visit Indonesia and Bali will be my main destination, should I spend all 7 nights in Bali or is it worth visiting Yogyakarta for 2 nights?

If you're into seeing the historic sights, most definitely. If you get a morning flight to YOG, you can get a taxi and stop by Prambanan (not even 20 mins away and you might see it on approach to YOG). Continue on to Borobodur where I'd recommend staying at the Manohara. The Manohara is located right next to the temple so (IIRC) entry is free and you can go anytime. Can do the dawn tour and there may be an evening tour too. Get the hotel to arrange for a taxi to take you back to YOG for the flight to DPS.

It is really a matter of priorities... For Jogja, you will need min 2 days and in reality, you won't see more than both above-mentioned historic sites, no tour in a nearby village by a local guide girl who will show you how they are making bricks or tofu, no strolling at woodworking/batik making section of the city to select small souvenirs for yourself and friends, no Alun-Alun area, then add to this 1 lost day flying from Jogja to Bali and at your destination, so in Bali, you now have 5 days left.

Of course, Yogyakarta itself has things of interest beyond excursions to Borobudur.

For a 7 day trip, I would skip Yogya. If possible, can you lengthen your trip?
If you go to Yogya for the temples, please check their opening days and hours. I did not, and was unable to see both sites.
If you arrive to Indo via Jakarta, then maybe do a morning flight to Yogya, do the temples and the next morning fly to Bali.
