New question:
Mrs M arrives KLIA2 at 1445 on Friday in a couple of weeks. I arrive KLIA1 from SIN at 1500. We have a hotel transfer collecting us. Should she go KLIA2 to KLIA 1 or should I go the other way? What sort of time from deplaning one terminal to getting to arrivals in the other? |
Wondering what the transfer times are like at the moment between the 2 terminals. Would half hour suffice ?

It departs from ground floor bus area, exit 4, but in the middle ie: not at the door/ kerb. You have to lug your case up and down a couple of kerbs 🙄 |
Free bus or train
Good day,
I have a transfer between KLIA & KLIA 2. - Arrival KLM flight : 03.35pm - Air Asia (international) : 6.45pm - drop-off luggage is closing 1 hour before departure 5.45pm. Do you know where KLM flight from Amsterdam is arriving - main terminal or KLIA 1 - satellite ? What is the quickest option to transfer : train of free bus ? For the train, you need to pay RM2.00. Can I pay directly with my revolut credit card or do I need to purchase a ticket first, before to access to the train ? In Singapore, I can access to the MRT with my credit card without ticket. What is the quickest ? Train or Free bus ? At KLIA 2 - which floor are the Air Asia checking departure ? Can I drop-off my luggage at all Air Asia checking desk or do I need to go to the Air Asia checking desk dedicated to the final destination (Phnom Penh) ? Thanks for your explanation per advance. |

KLM arrives at the KLIA1 Satellite building, so it'll take about 15 mins to get to immigration depending on how fast you walk. Train transfer is faster but also depends if theres a bus leaving soon at the time u get to the transfer level. The last time i did the transfer i was able to hop onto a departing bus, so that was fast. |

Yes you can just tap in and out of the train using your credit card. If you use a foreign credit card, you should get 20% off too (so RM1.60 for a one-way to KUL T2). Trains are faster at the frequency is at least every 20 minutes (based on the KLIA Express schedule) plus you have a few more KLIA transit running in between, so less than 20 minutes. Once you get to KUL T2, you need to head up a few floors to Air Asia check-in. Some developer think it's a good idea for passengers to enter via a shopping center, make you walk all over it before you get to the check-in area but I disagree. But yes, you need to walk through a shopping center before you get to Air Asia's check-in desks. Check the board for your check-in desks. They grouped a few destinations to a few desks (even better if you buy their "express pass" - you get another 7kg hand carry allowance, fast lane privilege at KUL T2 immigration, and dedicated check-in desk). |

KLM arrives at KUL T1 Satellite (please note that they changed the name of the terminals to something that made sense - it's called KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 now instead of KLIA1 and KLIA2). It really depends on the arrival load when you arrive. Immigration can be as quick as 2 minutes or as long as 1 hour. If you have a passport one of the 10 eligible countries to use the e-gates, you can go towards the e-gates and register for the first time and then use the e-gates on subsequent visits. Only DE/UK citizens from Europe are allowed to use the e-gates. US citizens are eligible too (based on you handle).
