Sri lanka halting On arrival Visa

Sri Lanka is halting on-arrival visa for tourists until further notice, in a new Coronavirus control measures, the state information office said after the first domestic transmission of the virus was reported earlier in the day.

“The Government has decided to suspend on arrival visa facility until further notice,” Director of Information Nalaka Kaluwewa said in a statement."

Sri Lanka has banned passengers from some European countries too. All overseas travel to Sri Lanka, from France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden and Austria will be banned from the 15th of March 2020 for period of two weeks.

This is further to the notice sent by the Director General of Civil Aviation, yesterday, banning air travel from South Korea, Italy and Iran with effect from tomorrow.

The ban will commence on all flights arriving after 15th March and end on 29th of March.

They could very well ban passengers coming from USA UK and Canada too very soon.

we were going through WAW, but they closed their borders.

It was too much of a hassle to find an alternate route at this point.

We will postpone to next year most likely

country is closed to all arrivals for 2 weeks at least as of midnight March 19. Departures are allowed to continue but my guess is that the airlines will just cancel most flights since they can only carry pax in one direction.

But in any event the country is essentially shut down like everywhere else. Schools closed. National parks all closed. People being urged to stay home. Lots of tension in the air, frankly. I left a few days earlier than planned since there was no reason to stay.

country-wide curfew in effect from 6:00 PM March 20 to 6:00 AM on March 23. Those who are traveling to the airport can get through checkpoints with their air ticket and passport according to local media

The only good thing about the curfew is that most Sri Lankans are used to these kinds of things like curfew. So they are a lot more familiar with it than in other parts of the world.

Been here at our winter home since october and except for some curfews and delays, we look to be better off here riding the storm instead of heading back to the USA> just returned from 7 days in Passikudah during curfew with a pass from the police that we got in Kalkudah Bay.. These are some very very patient people I must say. My drive back yesterday to Mont Lavinia from Passikudah was not much worse then any other day out driving with the crazies. We are scheduled to leave 13th of April but not looking to promising at the moment....
