Vietnam beach holiday
So, we took advantage of the latest QR J ex-ARN sale and arriving in SIN on 27th Jan, returning from SGN two weeks later.
Our plan is a couple of days in Singapore at the beginning, and HCMC at the end with a beach resort type holiday in the middle (with a bit of exploring thrown in). Initial plan is flying SIN-DAD on 29th and basing ourselves around there for the beach type holiday for about a week (obviously adding in seeing Hoi An and surrounds), before flying down to SGN to go home. Currently considering the Victoria Hoi An to stay in. Although a few questions... The SIN-DAD flight is now an exortionate £198 each one way with Silkair (I know Jetstar fly, but only at 1800 on the 30th, this would give us too long in SIN), and I wonder whether there might be better beach type places available. We'd like sun and decent temperatures so Northern Vietnam is out at that time of year. Where else would you recommend? Mui Ne and Phu Quoc seem like options, although there seems little else other than resorts themselves, I've heard horror stories about Nha Trang. Ideally non-stop flights from SIN and back to SGN (the other half isn't a fan of sitting around airports and I think the ex-EU thing might push him over the edge anyway!). It doesn't have to be Vietnam either. Looking at accommodation around the £100-150/night range. Cheers! |
So beach holiday...
Horror stories of the beach in Nha Trang? The beach there is great, IMO. Been to Mui Ne once. I didn't really even see a beach there. Maybe I was there at a tidal high time of the month? I would not recommend going to Mui Ne if you're looking for a beach holiday. Found this random website with some photos (note the 2011 date) : https://leaveyourdailyhell.com/2011/...-travel-guide/ Never been to Phu Quoc. Pictures look nice, but my friends tell me it's really been getting developed over the past many years. This is on my list of places to visit. If you've got Mui Ne and Nha Trang on your list, then how about Quy Nhon? I haven't been there, so I cannot comment on the beach conditions. |
I generally don't go to Asia for beaches, but found Nha Trang ok in the past. Qui Nhon, less so.
If I was planning, I'd look at the "tropical islands" section of the Travelfish locations page. Can't find these in Hawaii/California/Florida. -- Rich |
Is there any recommendations for a real white sandy beach in either, Vietnam, Or Cambodia or Thailand? I mean resorts with private beaches like in the Maldives or the Caribbean? Not the coral or brownish looking or seaweed filled lagoon or beach. I know there are island you can go out for day outings but I am looking for a resorts that have their own beaches.
I am looking for one for next month for a couple of days. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you |
