One day or two day on Halong bay?
I'm planning to do a trip to halong bay from Hanoi. We've been quoted about 100 dollars each person for 2 days 1 night tour, or 50 dollars each for a 1 day tour. Is it worth doing the 1 day tour because i think it'll take long time from Hanoi to Halong bay?

Do a 2 days/1 night trip, staying overnight either on a junk (which will include tours) or at a nearby hotel and book the tours separately.

If you have time, you should do 2D1N tour (Overnight on junk or Cat Ba island).

I've done the 1-day tour from Hanoi. It's a very long day. But we saw almost everything the 2-day/1-night tour included. The only real difference to me is there wasn't much time to just relax.

I did a 1 dayer several years ago (10 now!). I think the drive is quicker now. It was a fairly long day but I felt like I got enough to satisfy me. We sailed around a while, got off to see the caves, had lunch while sailing around some more. It is very pretty.

I think the answer is also highly dependent on how much time the OP has. If they need to squeeze in Halong Bay, do the day trip. If they have more time, do a 2/1 to avoid feeling rushed.

Last trip I did the 2d/1ni, this time I'm going back and doing the 3d/2ni.

If you have more time, just enjoy 2D1N Halong bay trip. It's amazing
