Need Data Plan/SIM for Manila
 

Looking at threads it seems they are almost 2 years old. My family and I will be traveling to MNL and Coron. We would like to get setup for data plans on our phones. We will be there for 7 days. 5GB should be enough for the 3 of us. We all have american(verizon) phones that are unlocked. Buying a pocket wifi and tethering is also an option if buying 3 sims is cost prohibitive.

If your phones are unlocked you can easily get local SIM cards. They sell them at the airport. I had Globe.

They will try and push the "tourist" sim card on you but its overpriced by about double. So just buy the SIM and buy the credit and activate on your own. Just be careful to turn off data while you activate the new plan or it'll suck up your credit.

I'm pretty sure I used this one which was $2/week for 2GB.

Have fun! Worked well in Manila but service was slow elsewhere, you might want to get at least one SIM that's different than the others so you might get service somewhere.

All the PH mobile providers have their websites in English so you can figure it out easily.
