JHB as alternative to Singapore overnight hotel

Hello, I am contemplating several MRs to Singapore. Rather than staying single overnight stays in expensive Singapore, I am considering overnighting in JHB, and using Transtar coach from Changi to JHB CIQ. Any suggestions as to low cost hotels for a single overnight somewhere close to JHB CIQ? Thanks

Could also try Airbnb for Singapore - I paid less than US$35. for a small Airbnb room in 2017.

Not worth the time and hassle to go JB to save on accommodation for 1 night only. Find a budget option in SG (there are plenty) - you will appreciate the short ride from the airport to the hotel once you have arrived SIN from your longhaul flight.

The low-cost options right across the border are dumpy. Really dumpy. That particular area of JB itself is pretty dumpy. There can be significant waits at immigration on both sides. Immigration Malaysia-side now involves a bit of a trek since the clearance area was shifted a few years ago. And oh, there can be long lines, lines bordering on bedlam, for the buses.

But try it. Once will be enough.

Go for one of the Fragrance/81 hotels in Singapore. You'll save yourself an awful lot of faff.

Accomodiation for around US $50 can be found in Singapore, please check Singapore forum hotel threads - just expect that your hotel room most likely won't have windows.

As everybody else said, trying to stsy at JB to save money on accomodiation doesn't make sense.
