Where would the OP miss a connection? All seems very legitimate to me.

In any event, it's up to the airlines involved to rebook in cases of missing connection. So why the worry?

Possibly.....but then flying with connections is a gamble anyway.

Even with legal MCTs, and even with airlines that may have excellent OTPs (and I don't know the numbers), there is the chance that ATC delays in China may impact your schedule, or other.

The only risky one is the PVG connection but it would take a pretty nasty situation (ie complete airport closure) to have a PVG arrival delayed. I think out of the 10 years I lived in China, I only had a delay at the arrival airport once and that was when the airport closed temporarily due to weather. In that case, your departing flight would definitely be delayed as well.

Out of the last 10 or so flights I took from Shanghai. I think only two departed on time.

So I guess even if it's that bad, the outbound would probably be delayed also.

Many times I would have been better off taking the high speed rail instead.

For PVG, I did a SHA-PVG transfer for less than that amount of time not too long ago.

As this is not related to Air Canada, moving to the Asia forum.
