MNL T1 Intl to Intl transfer - need to clear customs?

I'm flying from BKK to Palau (ROR) through NAIA. Arriving T1 via TG, and departing UA, also T1. I have a 10 hour layover.

Do I have to clear customs? I'm bringing a drone with me to Palau, and I understand that customs do not look kindly at drones. Unfortunately the airlines tell me that due to the length of the layover, they cannot send my baggage direct to Palau, i'll have to pick them up in Manila.

If you have to pick up your bag, then yes you will have to clear customs. But, in T1 it is really a matter of picking up your bag, handing the customs form to the officer and walking out. T1 is no place to spend 10hrs for a layover.

Be aware that when you have cleared customs, you will be outside the main terminal and will have to wait for UA ticket counter to open before getting back into the terminal. Based on a 10 hour layover, you might have 6 or more hours before you can get to the ticket counter, and with NAIA it is even possible you will have to wait outside as the entrance security might not let you back in so early. I say this in the hope you have the time to schedule something to do in Manila for a few hours instead of waiting outside. There is a shuttle bus to the Resorts World complex with restaurants and casino. Hope it goes well for you!

Thanks everyone. I'm going to re-route my flight through Korea or HKG. It will be 3 legs instead of 2, but it sounds like thats still better than dealing with NAIA.
