Only seeing Angkor Wat - how much time?

Hi all, I am on a Silkair flight SIN to REP, departing 1435, arriving 1545. I want to go see Angkor Wat and only Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. What time can I leave on the day after arrival for me to have enough time to get in REP, see Angkor Wat, and then get out of REP? I will be flying onwards to BKK/DMK, no preference on airlines.

Assuming you get up pre-dawn and arrive for sunrise, you could get to see a couple of the bigger temples from sunrise to 12 noon and catch late afternoon or early evening flight with plenty of time to spare.

Given time constraints, hiring a driver/guide would be a good investment. They know which temples to visit to avoid the crowds. There are several threads on visiting Angkor for more info....

if you want to only see Angkor Wat I'd say you can see the main temple and the various out buildings in a couple of hours max.

Frankly it seems kind of crazy to me to go to all of the trouble to get to SR and then only go to Angkor Wat.

Go for the sunrise outside of Angkor Wat by the moat. It's really breathtaking! You can then tour the temple and be done by 10am at the latest. The airport is about 15 mins away.

Thanks!

Money aside, is there any reason not to stay at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap during my one night stay?

"One" obvious answer is some folks might be on a business trip and they're playing hooky for 36 hrs. That was certainly the case for me....I was on tight schedule and needed to mix biz/pleasure....LOL :D

It is one thing to be, by example on a business trip, in Siem Reap for the 1st time, and just have 4-5 hrs free time between end of work and a flight to enjoy a quick visit to one must-see monument like A.Wat. But this is a completely different story to be in another country and fly to REP just for a couple of hours to see specifically this monument and nothing else.

Crazy is how I like to travel! I usually just spend one or two days in each new country, and the places I like I will come back to spend more time in the future. International overnight trips or day trips is not unheard of in my life.

I have flown to Hong Kong just to pick up a tailored suit from the Tom Ford store (which I previously dropped off during a 2 day visit). How I travel might be odd to some people, but it works for me.

By the way, Tom Ford tailors in Hong Kong are way better than the ones in Chicago or New York.

half a day is a minimum in Angkor and you're done.
