Cheap hotels in Bali?

Hello FTers

I plan to spend a week in Bali. We are a group of 3 people and I'm finding it difficult to find a hotel to my requirements. I am not looking for a fancy hotel neither a cheap/dirty hotel, but something in between. I checked the Marriot Bali and the price was very good (approximately $200 per night) but the only issue is that if I want an extra bed in that room then I must book a king-bed room as opposed to twin-bed room (which is unacceptable to my group.)

Can any one recommend me a good hotel that will fit all 3 of us in the same room while maintaining a twin bed-room? I am looking for a hotel similar to The Kowloon Hotel in Hong Kong :)

Edit: The Loft Legian Hotel seems to be a good choice, but I'm trying to avoid paying for 2 rooms if we can find a hotel that can fit us all 3 on the same room.

There are a lot of great hotels and villas in Bali. Your issue may be that you are looking at chain hotels. Seminyak has a lot of great hotels. I would also check Airbnb.

Affirmative. Also for $200 night you can rent a villa with two bedrooms with their own private pool.

Tripadviser and forums there would provide you much of information.

We stayed at Bali Villa Ubud for four days and while it is a little bit away from Ubud's main district, that was the reason I choose the place. Plus the service was above and beyond.

US$200 would be on the cheaper side in Paris, San Francisco or NY, but Bali?

On the other hand, if you're splitting that among three people, I get it...

I have checked the Bali Villa Ubud and there are no rooms available for our stay. We do not require a swimming pool since we intend to go to Waterboom Bali and Sekumpul Waterfalls.

Would the The Loft Legian Hotel be suitable for us or should we look for another hotel?

Please check Tripadvisor forums - there should be enough information helping you to decide.

I definitely agree with this.

OP - I detail the costs of 2 different places we stayed in Bali in my TR linked in my signature in case you'd like to see some more examples.

OP - you mention "Bali;" but, Bali is a big island that takes hours to cross by car. In which area(s) of Bali are you interested in staying? Are you looking for a beachfront location or an inland/rice fields location or an in-town Ubud location?

Thank you all I appreciate the help.

Regarding which areas I intend to stay in Bali, I thought about staying in Kuta but I still did not decide yet. This is the original itinerary for our 6 days trip to Bali:

1) First night we arrive late evening so we will relax in the hotel.
2) Next day we drive all the way to Sekumpul Waterfalls if we stay in Kuta
3) Third day we spend it in Waterboom Bali
4) Fourth day we go to Bali Bird Park and Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
5) Fifth day we either go for USS liberty shipwreck diving or Mayong Village Tracking Experience
6) Our final day we might spend it at Jatiluwih Green Land before our late afternoon flight.

I'm thinking of staying in The Loft Legian Hotel if we will spend all the day out but was curious if we can get a decent hotel for a decent price....

Personally I would avoid Kuta and stay in Seminyak near Potato Head Beach Club for 3 nights and then stay in Ubud for 2-3 nights.

In Seminyak we stayed at the Pradha Villas which was a short walk to the street with all the restaurants, the beach, and to Potato Head Beach Club. We had a 1 room villa w/ a pool (under $200 a night after discounts) and separate building for the kitchen and guest bathroom. There was a guestroom that is kept locked unless you pay extra. They will bring you breakfast each morning or have a cook make breakfast in your kitchen for you. Great location! The beach there was very nice. I liked that once you were there you everything was within walking distance. When Travelocity had a coupon with a big discount I booked each night as a separate reservation and it really drove the price down.

In Ubud we stayed at KajaNe Mua which had an amazing location and a private van to drive you any place you'd like to go. We did a villa with a pool for under $200 a night.

In Seminyak take a day to relax and go to the beach. Book a tour (PM me if you need a suggestion) to South Kuta. I believe a private tour is typically $50-55 for 10 hours. In Ubud you won't need a tour guide for the monkey forest or anything in town. You will want to do the rice terrace, water falls, temples, etc.. with the tour guide. The tour guide can also take you to another monkey forest that isn't as busy with tourists if you want something more secluded.

Avoid Kuta at all costs. Seriously.
