Help Getting To Bali

I am booked to travel to Bali in early Feb. I wish to stop for a few days prior in an in-between location in order to break up the long trip. Any ideas?
Many thanks.

Where are you originating?

I recommend Vladivostok ! It's lovely in Feb ! Try to keep the routing in the same temp range, unless you want to bring an extra bag. I assume, you aren't fully booked at all yet (unless you're originating in Asia), since you can change your stopover. Remember, Feb can be very wet (unlike the rest of SE Asia). wj

If you go west, then Honolulu or Hong Kong. I wouldn't recommend Japan because it would require a completely different wardrobe than Bali. While Hong Kong can be cold, it's a relatively mild winter.

SIN is an obvious routing to Bali, but it's almost too close to Bali for the OP's purposes. Hong Kong can be chilly, damp, and rainy in "winter", so you do need extra clothes for that as a stopover.

If you're already "booked," shouldn't the stopover be determined by your booking conditions? Or you can cancel and rebook at no cost? If so, SIN, HKG, BKK are all easy connections and different enough from Bali to be interesting. I assume other usual connections like LHR, FRA, IST, DXB aren't what you've in mind?
