Is this KUL connection too tight?

I have a friend coming over from Dublin to visit me in Phnom Penh.

Her flight (EY418) arrives in KUL at 2pm. The latest flight leaving KUL for PNH is at 3:20 (MH762)

Is this connection too tight? Or will she already be in the right terminal and through security?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Did your friend book her flight together as connecting flight? If she did, then it shouldn't be worried even if there's delay, she should be booked on the next available flight, provided with accommodation and so on. If she didn't, then she might need some help from the staff in the airport for direction, by-pass the queue or whatsoever. For your information, KLIA airport is a huge airport.

Regards=)

No, the flight is not a connecting flight. I know KLIA is huge, which is why I've asked for advice here -- I don't know if she'll be in the same terminal for the two flights I've listed or if she will need to go through security again or not. If both those work in her favor, she should be able to make it.

But, well, Etihad is a partner airline of Malaysia airline, if she can check-in both flight and get both boarding pass at Dubai, that would be fine. If not, waiting for the luggage might take some time. Adjusting the flight date a bit might be an option to travel without worry.

Regards=)

Anyone have any suggestions for figuring out if she can go straight from one gate to the next, or will she have to go through security again?

If she is arriving on Ethihad she will disembark at the satellite terminal. MH regional flights depart from the main terminal. The 2 terminals are connected via an aerotrain and takes only a couple of minutes. Each boarding gate (holding room) has it's own security screening.

And finally I wouldn't describe KUL as 'huge', at least when compared to BKK, SIN or CGK :)

I looked up these flights on flightstats and it looks the first will be arriving to Terminal M and the second departing from Terminal M.

Terminal M would include both the main terminal and satellite terminal, it's actually one 'big' terminal with additional gates at the satellite. The other terminal is the budget terminal LCCT.

Thanks, that's very helpful! What do you think, is it worth risking it? I tend to think so, as I hope that MH would just rebook her for the next day if she doesn't make it.

I'd say it's worth the risk. Your friend probably can check bags through to Phnom Penh. A seat near the exit on the KUL inbound also could be helpful.

The connection is definitely possible according to what I can see in my Gaileo system.

However if one flight is delayed and these flights have not been booked as one ticket there maybe an issue.

Is it one ticket?

Unfortunately not, and it sounds like there is no way for her to buy the MY portion and attach it. Or is there?

Unless the airline has an interline agreement or a codeshare agreement then no.

Has she purchased the ticket?

She has purchased the EY portion but not the MH leg.
