Now that this HI has become a Traders Hotel (Shangri-La) I was wondering whether anyone can recommend any of the other hotels in town for a 1 night layover? I'm not keen to spend over $200 for this hotel now that it isn't a HI anymore. I have stayed once before in a complete dump near the ferry terminal (can't remember the name of it though).

I have read a bit on Tripadvisor but all reports have some good and some bad ones.

Has anyone stayed at the Marble hotel in town? Rooms there are going for half the price and as long as it's clean I'm fine for the night. Definitely don't want to start the holidays in a run down place with doubtful hygenic standards.

Would be keen to know if you managed to snag a decent room for transit in MLE?
