I stayed at the Novotel a few weeks ago and had a great stay. Much better than the Novotels in Europe.
The hotel is not too far from the Terminal buildings (its opposite new offices for China Airlines) but you can't really walk. But there is a regular free shuttle from both terminals arrivals areas (they drop off at departures too). From the hotel, when I was there, it was a half hourly service, on the hour and half hour. Can't remember which terminal I arrived at (CX) but I asked at the arrivals information desk and they got me a Novotel representative in the terminal to point the way to the right bus stop (although it is clearly marked). Great service. The hotel is great, free wifi and mineral water in a nice brand new room. |
how much did they charge

CX arrivals is at T1. If you are staying at Novotel, they do have a shuttle bus to the hotel at 30min intervals. Once at the arrival hall, turn to your right and walk straight to the Tourist Information Counter. Exit the arrival hall and wait for the shuttle bus at Bus bay number 3. However, their earliest shuttle bus to the airport is at 6am so you may have to make further arrangements if your flight departs at 6.15am

Thank you all for very valuable information!
I guess I can get to Novotel TPE using the free shuttle service when I arrive there. But, since my CX flight from TPE to HKG leaves at 6:15am, I guess I need to arrange a Taxi at Novotel TPE, correct? |
Moving thread as topic is more appropriate in Destinations forum.

My experience is that the inbound flight is often early, and you ususally have more than enough time to even "visit" Taipei. I figured why not and got 2 extra stamps on my passport. I put "In Transit" on the landing form and no question was ever asked. :D Could you do a turnaround instead and save on the cost of a hotel room? If you want to be absolutely safe, take the same plane on both ways (e.g. CX400/1, CX406/5, etc.). ^ |
If anyone DOES decide to spend the night in the airport terminal, there are free shower facilities in TPE at the terminal 1 arrival gate lavatories in the transit lounge area.
