Raised Fine for Overstaying Visa
 

Not sure if this has been published on this site yet, but just so all you know the fine (multa) for overstaying your visa just got raised significantly- from 50pesos to 300pesos. If you are from a Mercosur country, it is only 100pesos. So, this might make some people rethink just letting their visa expire and paying at the airport, since now it is a much bigger expense.

It appears that the fees have also been raised to $100/$300 obtain an extension to the 3-month tourist visa. At least it's removed one anomaly - previously, the fine for overstaying was $50 whereas the fee for obtaining an extension was $100. I never understood why anyone would waste half a day in migraciones doing a tramite that cost $100 when they could just overstay and pay $50 at the airport on leaving?!
