Do I need to worry - as our plans are to spend the first weekend in May at Iguazu? Are there any preventatives one can take?

I´m in Iguazu at the moment. According to La Nacion, there has only been one case of dengue here so far (compared to thousands in Salta and Jujuy and a hundred or so in BA). Nobody seems particularly concerned about dengue in Missiones province for the time being.

Yea, just to reiterate one more time BUENOS AIRES is fine! they are fumigating some of the parks out of precaution, but that is more to calm people down than to actually kill any dangerous bugs. its very sad what is happening to the people in the north, but it really shouldn't effect any vacation to buenos aires or the immediate area (or down south).
Stay safe! |
At least they do seem to be taking it seriously although I was surprised to see them fumigating in Buenos Aires I have to say. I noticed on TV there has also been advisory information about what one should do to lessen the chance of the blighters having a comfy habitat to live and breed in.
I have noticed a lot more of the things about in my garden. Maybe the recent rain after the drought in my area has brought more of them out. |
Thanks to all for sharing your updates.... ^

If I heard correctly, according to last nights TV news five new cases of dengue in Buenos Aires reported and believed not to have been "imported" from other areas.
