Important Question- River or Boca?

I'm trying to figure out which Argentine football team I want to support- River Plate or Boca Juniors. It's by far the biggest rivalry in Argentine football. Both have great histories, and both sets of fans are really passionate and fun, but I'm still pretty lost. I want to figure it out before I go to their game in April 19th (I gotta buy a jersey before then!). Anybody have any convincing arguments either way?

When I came to stay here our friends tried their best to make me support San Lorenzo. :rolleyes:
My wife is a armchair River fan and even though I am a fan of them I have to say the aura surrounding Boca has gotten to me so I do tend to favour them more out of the two. The way River are playing it would seem I have made the right decision. :D

In relative terms River is considered the more elitist team (one of their nicknames is Los Millonarios) but rivals call them Las Gallinas and occasionally drop a hen on the field to aggravate them and their fan base. Boca is more blue collar and are proud to be called "bosteros" (have someone translate that). For what it's worth Maradona played for Boca and considers that his favorite team.

Bostero = one that hangs around (sits in /lives in) Bosta

Bosta = horse feces

The above should be enough info for you to understand that one cannot support Boca Juniors.

:p
