AEP - downtown
 

Does anyone know if Manuel Tienda Leon offers service from AEP - downtown? Specifically, the Intercontinental? They are recommended for trips from EZE to AEP and EZE to downtown but when checking their website, it seems they only go to Terminal Madero. Are there any other reliable car services? Would a radio taxi be just as reliable? Thanks.

I had no problem just getting on the regular taxi queue from AEP to addresses in Microcentro and Recoleta (typically 25-30 Argentine pesos on the meter).

Radio Taxi is an option... call them once you land and they will send u a car.

Here's verbatim from an email from Dante when I inquired about transport from downtown to AEP:

...from almost anywhere downtown to AEP it takes about 15 minutes, but on rush hour (4 PM to 8 PM), allow at least an hour to get there, and you also need to be there one hour ahead of the flight time, so get a radio taxi ( your hotel could get one for you) or if you are in an apartment, call 5238 0000 Radio taxi Premium) and arrange for the transfer, the cost should be approx. 15 Pesos ( US$ 5). When you come back from Iguazu do not leave the airport building to get a cab from the street, they are not reliable, best to go to the "remise booth" inside the building and arrange a transfer, it may be a little more, but you pay right there and avoid unpleasant surprises.

Please note that the above mentiones fares are now history, Dante´s mention of a $15 (peso) ride will now cost you closer to $20 pesos.

Yeah, I'd say that in free-flowing traffic you can estimate that a taxi will cost about 1.25 pesos/min.

As a follow up to my question, Manuel Tienda Leon has a remise booth at AEP. We used them since they are highly recommended for trips from EZE. Cost from AEP to Recoleta was about $35 (pesos) and it took about 20 minutes.

I had my partner inquire while we were waiting for bags last week. She doesn't comprehend Spanish well but it was either ARS 40 or a 40 minute wait for one. I ended up going outside first to get in line for a taxi (by the time 4M delivered her bags - last - I was almost at the front of the line). Costed about ARS 24 to get to near Obelisco.

Sadly, Argentinian cab drivers are a very diverse bunch. Many many really good ones, but many many crooks too. Avoid the touts at AEP, and avoid the overpriced remises, too. Head for the marked taxi stand. A ride to Microcentro will cost roughly 25-35 (depending on traffic). If you're going to Palermo is much less. I've had touts quote me 60 pesos, then I proceed to laugh at them. Beware.

Btw, at Ezeiza, I completely avoid Manuel Tienda Leon's remises (priced at 140-145 pesos!) and head to Transfer Express (right next to them) for $90-100 peso rides.
