about 6h transit in EZE, suggestions please?

folks, on my way back home, i'll have a 6h transit in EZE (coming in from GIG and leaving for MIA via AA). Any ideas how to maximise the time? i presume heading into town for an early dinner/late lunch of more good beef is always an option, but i'd appreciate alternatives before making up my mind :)

6 hours is not enough time. The evening US departures make the airport a zoo - paying departure tax booth (which you will have to pay if you enter Argentina), outbound migration booth, security, etc... traffic etc etc - I wouldn't do it. Figure an hour from landing EZE to in the city in a taxi (there shouldn't be any/much immigration issue at that hour), and figure leaving the city at least 3 hours prior to your departure.

On the other hand, the gate area of EZE is a pit, and the lounges aren't all that great either (as in terribly overcrowded for the hour that US departures typically leave).

I agree with Eastbay.... but, maybe not. :D

What class of service are you flying in... also, will you have to re-check bags? If you dont have a lot of issues to deal with upon your return to EZE, then 6 hours may actually be a good amount of time for you to get into town and grab a bite to eat.

Please share more about your detailed situation.... will you be able to have your boarding passes in GIG for your EZE to MIA leg...? Elaborate on the baggage situation and also on the class of service, etc. -- and we will all be able to give you some additional advice.

The jury is still out on this one, but my gut feeling tells me you are still good to go into town and not sit around in EZE where there is NOTHING to do and the facilities are just awful for a stay thats longer than 90 minutes.

6 hours at EZE airport !!!! I would go crazy.
10 minutes for duty-free shopping and I am done.
Lounges are terrible and at night, very crowded.
Would definitely make an effort to leave the airport.
Guacho - are there any good restaurants close to the airport so he does not have to get into town?

my original itinerary has me going to buenos aires, mendoza, iguazu, rio, then back to usa via EZE. we fly rio-eze on TAM and arr @ 2pm. my friends and i all have outbounds from eze between 8-9pm.

i doubt i'll have bp until i get to eze. i'm on an econ award ticket and lost my aa elite status this year. i have 1 suitcase to check in.

but there's more than meets the eye. i could forgo rio and goto el calafete instead. but the flt would arr at the domestic airport at 549pm same day as my 9pm aa flight from eze, sounds a little tight if you ask me, but since we have so many folks weighing in, i thought i'd throw this alternative scenario in. will be starting another thread asking about el calafete :)

The chance of you having an on-time domestic flight into AEP on AR is about as good as the chances that the plumber will show up at my house at the beginning of his allotted time slot this afternoon. Add luggage retrieval, traffic, and EZE evening madhouse, you will miss your flight.
