Passport validity to enter Argentina?

I'm planning a possible trip to Argentina with a friend whose US passport expires shortly after our return. I did some Googling to see if there is a requirement for the passport to be valid beyond the intended stay and found this website - http://www.traveldocs.com/ar/er.htm - which suggests a passport needs to be valid for 3 months.

But I looked on Delta.com (where they have a great section on immigration requirements) and called United and neither said anything about a 3 month requirement. I want to avoid getting denied boarding or denied entry so was curious what the best source is to find this out.

Thanks!

Nice idea in theory, but there are major delays for processing passport renewals right now.

I doubt that you will have issues with boarding your plane in the states.... Ive never heard of, or experienced a case where the US airlines thoroughly checked passports for travel to Argentina... its more an issue of immigration in Ezeiza, although they are also generally quite easy going. It is my understanding that you are required a passport with at least 90 days validity, but its a good idea to check with the Argentine Embassy in Washington or with the nearest Consulate.
