Connecting times at EZE
Does anyone know what the minimum international connecting time is for EZE, or for that matter any experience into how long it might actually take to do an international connection at EZE? We'll be coming back from a cruise (Santiago) and need to get back to EZE, on our own, for our return flight home. Basically would have a "scheduled" arrival of 7:30 P.M. (local time) at EZE for a connection at 9:50 PM (local) so would that be sufficient? Also as we'd be on different tickets and transferring between airlines, would we need to transit through customs and immigration at EZE (and get our luggage) or would we be in an in-transit area awaiting the 9:50 flight? Then if indeed we needed to go through Argentina customs would we need to pay the Argentina departure tax? It would appear that if we had to go through immigrations on the inbound then check-in for the 9:50 PM flight and then traverse immigrations on the way out that 2 Hours and 20 minutes might really be tight.
I know the question is really quite complicated but appreciate any help from anyone with experience or knowledge of EZE. Otherwise we can take an earlier flight from Santiago, but then have 8 hours to kill in the airport. Thanks SAS |
I can tell you that the one time I connected EZE on separate tickets, I didn't have what you'd call a "real" problem. Your projected connect time will be fine. There is a place for int'l connections - you don't need to "enter" Argentina. However, there's not really a "flight connections center" or anything. I was flying in on UA and going to Lan, and just went to the AA lounge (and told the agent that I was connecting, and didn't have my BPs yet) and she called up to Lan and everything was fine. I don't recall if the AA agent printed BPs, or if Lan brought them to the lounge, or if I had to go out to the gate once it was staffed (I think that was the case). With your ongoing ticket info, @ SCL, they should check your bags all the way through.

The OP's connection should work OK unless something goes wrong.
Since BA is such a good place, why not spend the night there and make the connection even better and certain? |
The above advice is very good.... even if you will have 8 hours at the airport, I suggest you get into town, you will enjoy it.
