Suggestions for inexpensive trip?

Mrs. PTravel and I have decided to return to Argentina in October. We previously spent 11 nights in Bueno Aires and enjoyed ourselves tremendously (and particularly enjoyed the low prices). This year is particularly tight financially, so a return trip seems in order (Europe is out, and we're going to avoid China, our base in Asia, until after the Olympics). We want to use BA as our gateway city. We'll do award travel to and from EZE and will use points to stay at the Sheraton Libertador. We're planning on a 2-week trip with 3 or 4 nights on either end at BA. We're trying to decide where to go for the week in-between.

We're not outdoorsy people, and don't like hiking, climbing, etc. We do enjoy experiencing different cultures, mixing with the locals, etc.

We were thinking, perhaps, of visiting a ranch on the pampas somewhere, but a week of that would probably be too much.

Any suggestions for inexpensive and interesting places to visit from BA would be welcome.

Prices have been adjusting as of late, but regardless of this inflation you will still find Buenos Aires to be a very good value for money destination.

Have you toured the various museums in Buenos Aires...? What about Tango shows?

A day trip to an Estancia would probably be of interest, I suggest you look into that. What about going to see Iguazu Falls? If you are into wines, then I suggest considering visiting Mendoza.

Cheers,
Alex

PTravel;
If you do a search you will find many threads regarding Iguazu, Mendoza, Rosario, Colonia del Sacramento, Montevideo and Bariloche. I suggest you start there. You may even consider a side trip to Chile (inexpensive flights but a $100 visa charge for US passport).

Also, you may want to watch a Soccer game at La Bombonera or River Plate Stadium.
