Quick Jaunts Out of BA

For my upcoming, two-week (almost) trip to BA, I have no plans whatsoever but to arrive in town and get to the apartment I rented. Outside of that, I'm just planning to take it as it comes by wandering, eating, drinking, browsing, etc.

I'm curious, though, about the means of getting out of town for a couple days on a quick trip somewhere. The last time I did it, I made my plans and reservations for a trip to Peninsula Valdes before I left the US. This trip was nested within my visit to BA and all arrangements were taken care of ahead of time. But I don't feel like doing it that way this time (unless I have to).

Is it possible to get to BA and find inexpensive package deals that leave the city on short notice? Kind of like a site59.com, but departing BA for places like Bariloche, Iguazu, Salta, Mendoza or Ushuaia? Do I just visit a travel agent when I get there? Or is this so out of the realm of possibility that if I really feel like getting out of BA for a couple days I should take care of it now before I get to Argentina?

Thanks.

If you are pretty flexible, I found if you go to a travel agent when you get there and see what's on offer you can get some good deals with an excellent range of places to visit.

As my wife is Argentinian I let her do the talking as they do seem to have different prices - hmm say no more.

I think the TA option is a good one, as there is still little travel planning for domestic tourism done on the internet (that market is still in its early infancy here). As for the famous dual pricing issues for travel.... I hate to beat a dead horse but please remember that is you are a non resident and book resident fares, you are taking a gamble. It may work, yes, but if it doesnt be prepared to pay the price.
