BTW, on the leg back from Uruguay, you have to do a standard two step process, Argentine immigration is done at AEP. |
Not sure about the stamp, but I always use my US passport instead of my arg one. I will say you always need to do migraciones when arriving from a foreign country regardless if you use a passport or dni (mercosur), unless by boat (ferry) when you usually do it in MVD if I remember correctly.

I honestly don’t see how your passport would matter, particularly when under Argentinian law a person born in Argentina is Argentinian irrespective of which passport they use to enter the country. I don’t know if this is still the case, but years ago immigration officers would allow you to enter the country on a second passport but the moment they saw the place of birth was within Argentina, they would write “ARGENTINO” on top of the entry stamp.
If you use a foreign card VAT will be waived, at least in my experience. In the odd case when somebody would ask, VAT is based on residency and you can always explain that you are not an Argentinian tax resident. |
Yes, I remember the above when entering EZE on my Italian passport back in the days when I lived in NYC.... of course, now that passports are no longer stamped, I guess they may annotate this in the computer system....??

Thanks for the input. What confused me was this blog describing the need to download some voucher from Migraciones to be eligible for the VAT exemption at hotels:
https://loyaltylobby.com/2024/06/26/...n-requirement/ In practice, I didn't have to do this last week. Paying with my foreign credit card was enough. But the blog post is why I felt the need to enter Argentina with a foreign passport instead of my DNI. As others already confirmed, there was no special shared immigration processing. Uruguay exit at MVD, Argentina entry at AEP. |
