Shot in the dark: Help in EZE
 

My wife was recently in EZE and forgot her favourite jacket and scarf at her hotel in the Palermo area. It'll be about $500 to ship it back unfortunately. I thought I'd see if by chance one of the fine people in this community were swinging by EZE anytime in the near future and could potentially pick up the jacket and scarf from her hotel in Palermo to bring back North to Canada. We're in YYZ but if someone is elsewhere in country it would at least be significantly cheaper to deal with shipping.

I dont know how large and heavy the jacket is, but $500 for shipping just doesnt seem right. Who quoted you this cost and did they give you a detailed breakdown of costs? I
assume it is a used jacket so its not like Canada will charge you taxes and duty, or...??? Have you considered using the regular postal service...?

If you care to PM me details of the jacket, I can try to put you in contact with a specialist logistics forwarder that I work with, he has very good courier rates. I dont know the specifics and cannot guarantee that this Company will be able (or willing) to offer a solution, but I can ask. I'll be surprised if someone volunteers to take items on an aircraft that belong to a stranger.

Did you get that rate quoted from the hotel? If that's USD, it sounds exorbitant. Fedex should be able to handle this type of delivery for well under $100 - roll up the jacket/scarf, stick it in a box, send it on a plane.

I wouldn't send anything of value through the Argentinean postal service, but if Gaucho100K feels it's trustworthy enough, I'll defer to him. In the past when I've had to send or receive anything from Latin America, it always went by courier to avoid theft (except to/from Chile, where the postal service is functional.)
