For those non-Spanish speakers the government dropped the TV rights contract and left it up to the Argentinian Futbol league to resell the rights. No takers yet and with no TV revenue coming in most of the teams cannot pay their bills.

Doesn't look like there will be any futbol here until March now!

FIFA getting pissed off at AFA ,

Rumours in Europe indicate that a possible suspension from international tournaments is possible.

Will Macri try and broker some sort of deal?

What's interesting is a lot of the club managers and famous players have voiced support of the lower leagues strike and the complete gutting of the current AFA admin due to the amount of corruption and mismanagement.

Macri does have a futbol history with Boca Juniors. Maybe he could help clean this mess up?

I'm pretty sure something will get sorted out as soon as everyone gets back from their hols. Not that I'm at all bothered as I rarely watch it anyway. The quality of the domestic game has dropped over the ten years I've been here. Even Partick Thistle could give the top teams here a run for their money. :D

Still lots of exhibition matches going on between clubs from all levels, as the teams have to keep active. Many are well attended (like last Sunday's match between Primera A Godoy Cruz and 3rd division team Huaracan de Las Heras at big Malvinas stadium here in Mendoza) as they usually are local derbies.
