Laundry in BA?
I'm going down to BA, Mendoza, and Santiago in a few weeks and want to only travel with a carry-on. I was wondering, are there any places in BA (perf close to the IC) that I can drop off my laundry at and pick it up the next day?

I bet the IC offers a laundry service, but there are many "Laverap" and "Tintorerķas" around town. Just look for signs.

Make sure you try and tell them how you want your clothes done, and maybe they'll be able to comply, or you'll end up with perfumed, bleached clothing. Of course, that may be how you want them.

Hotel prices are usually expensive, so I try to avoid them. |
Not at all close to the IC, but this is where I take my things:
https://www.facebook.com/laundrycompany They were founded several years ago on the basis of ecologically responsible laundry. They use high quality soaps/softeners that will not leave your clothing smelling like cheap perfume or bleached out. They also do a great job with special instructions like air-drying items that shouldn't be put in a machine, etc. But they are in Palermo, which is nowhere near the InterContinental. Recently they opened another branch in Manhattan (called the Eco-Laundry Company) and have been doing quite well there. The guy who started it is a friend of mine (who had moved to Buenos Aires and now lives between Buenos Aires and New York) and told me he started it because he was sick of places ruining his clothes and making them smell like chemicals. |
Back to the OP, and not exactly his question, but you can expect that some of your flights will have extremely vigilant carry-on police, either at check-in or at the gate. Expect that at one of your points, you'll be asked to weigh it, shown a sizer, etc. The closer your bag size is to a standard US-sized rollerbag, the more likely this is to occur. Just be prepared.

Never understood the perfume smell but I get it now.. Most of the places in Palermo Viejo that I go to on occasion serve that up. Is it a cultural thing? Now Mendoza is a different story.. My jeans were like cardboard for weeks :)
