I have never heard of anyone being "forced" to take a taxi from the arrivals area. There are some fellows who offer their services but they are usually outside the arrivals hall, near the parking lot, and if you ignore them they never push it. As Eastbay1K said, there is an information counter at the arrivals hall (on your right hand-side when entering the hall after customs, just next to the McDonald's) and the staff tend to be helpful.

The last two times I landed at EZE (just before Christmas 2014 and late March 2015) the whole customs ordeal seemed to have stabilised and there were no queues. That said, I was coming in from Europe. Probably they are a bit more strict when screening flights coming in from shopping paradise USA.

Over the past year, I've had the line go back into the baggage carousel area, as well as having no line at all. The inbound USA bank of flights is variable. What they have done is have one zigzag line for everyone with an agent directing you to a scanner at the end instead of "choose your line" in advance.

Now with the single line feeding into all the X-ray points, sometimes they only allow one passenger (or family) approach at a time so that it's obvious to the screeners who the baggage belongs to.

Thanks again for the info and experiences. I'll post about any thing else she experiences after I get a "report."

We arrived into EZE around 8pm the other week. Quickly through immigration not too long a wait for bags and the customs pantomime was negotiated without any problem....no questions asked despite us carrying some new electronics.

Usual chaos landside with people waiting for arrivals getting in the way and the odd taxi tout but all in all a good experience.
