Enough gold and dollars to last a while...

Looks like the Argentinian economic will soon be "finished":

"Legislation Would Let Government Regulate Profit and Production Levels"

A blue dollar rate of 13 would seem extremely low in that case as hyperinflation and shortages are guaranteed under the new law.

Things are business as usual with the dual market exchange rate.....

For those that don't want to trade on the street, Xoom is also an option.

Maybe some of the currency traders are lying low for a short while because of the gendarmerie raids yesterday? I can't imagine that the govt can shut down the dolar blue market.

They can close down the blue market very easily just by relaxing currency controls.

They won't of course do that as it would only make things ruddy worse.

How are Bank of Scotland notes doing in the blue market for AR$? Are they as easily converted into AR$ at many of the same places as used for Bank of England GBP note conversions into AR$?

No idea I've never tried exchanging any.....and anyway I'd be wanting them not getting rid of them.
I reckon you wouldn't stand much chance of getting them exchanged in the street.

Gaucho100K Sep 7, 2014 3:51 pm

It will not be easy but You will have to find a specialist and You may have to accept a less attractive exchange rate than You would get for US Dollars.

It's hard enough trying to use them in London never mind Buenos Aires :D

I have gotten some funky looks when using my stash of Bank of Scotland currency notes in London, but they are legal tender in the UK -- at least for now.

I had no problem converting some in India and Norway.

Maybe HIDDY still wants to convert out of AR$. He said he'd be wanting them (not AR$). :D
