EZE to hotel

What is the best and safest way to get from EZE to my hotel in Recoleta? Can I pay in US $ and what is the usual tariff?

Thanks for the advice.

Your US$ cash will be accepted, but Im not sure if they will give you a favorable rate... it doesn't hurt to ask but they are actually supposed to offer you only the official exchange rate.

In response to your question, the safest way is to use one of the remis companies just outside customs;
You pay right there cash or credit card and then you can tip the driver.
That is probably the best and safest way to get to your hotel. The going rate is 340 pesos argentinos.

Gaucho can make a comment about other companies that he works with.

Please note that if you use a credit card you will get the official rate of 5.50 ish minus the ForEx fee (if applicable).

I used this company to pre-book a remis (limo) into town last year.

I think the walk up rate may have actually been a bit less than pre booking, but after a long flight I just wanted an assurance that I had a mode of transport arranged that didn't require too much explaining, haggling or queueing. We were escorted by the driver from the airside office to the car direct avoiding any touts (although I can honestly say I don't recall seeing any).

As it was all pre-paid, we only had to tip the driver. The car was clean and the chat minimal, mainly do to the language barrier.

There may be cheaper ways of doing it, but this just takes all the hassle out.

Even when you are fluent in Spanish, I find that most taxi drivers including remis are professional, keep to themselves and I found most cars to be clean.

Is there a specific taxi company that one should use? To avoid? We are arriving on two different occasions on a Sunday. Does arriving on a Sunday change things? Thanks.

All the booths just past customs have fixed fares, and there are no day of week differentials in price. Manuel Tienda Leon is at least 20% more than the others, and I don't think worth it, although their cars tend to be a bit newer. Every time I've used any of them (I may have used MTL once), I've arrived at my destination in less than 2 pieces, with my luggage in the same condition in which it entered the vehicle.

Love the "less than 2 pieces" comment. Thanks.

Car sizes in Argentina are nothing like in the USA so if you travel with a lot of bags then this can quickly become an issue....

We travel light. One carry on each and perhaps one other small piece (size of a carry-on) but we will check it for our flights. Quite possibly just a carry-on each! Do the taxi companies charge for each bag as well or is it just a matter of space?

It is a matter of space. I've traveled with 3 suitcases, and one gets a front passenger seat ride.

No extra charge for bags.

I just worked with Gaucho100K on a recent trip to EZE. He works with a company that will be waiting for you with a sign as you exit Customs and take you to a clean car and professional driver. His driver was the only one we had that actually stayed between the lines on the road! It wasn't the cheapest option, but it was the least hassle and good service. In addition, talk to him about exchanging dollars for pesos. That side of things worked excellently as well, and I avoided having to visit a questionable location to get a good exchange rate.
I would PM him for more details.

Where is your sense of adventure? He probably also paid the toll at the toll booths.
