As far as I remember, Airlines have to to take pesos, they can not issue any ticket in u$s...

Yes... I just got off the phone with American and they will take Pesos in cash.

It had been reported elsewhere that this had stopped, but I guess that wasn't the case or perhaps the airlines started taking cash once again.....

What about using a TA?
They should also take Pesos.
(How they can decline when the POS is in Argentina is a legal question as pesos are legal tender)

Yes, TA's will take pesos but not for all services, and not for all cases. Its not that simple, the devil is in the details. Pesos are legal tender buy some services may be quoted in US$ and are payable in US$. If you agree to this you cant turn around and expect to pay in Pesos at the official rate, unless you are willing to go to Court over this.
