Your Hotel Recommendations, Please
 

My wife and I will be going on a cruise departing from the Port of Buenos Aires in February. If there are no complications, we'll be arriving at EZE the morning of the day before the ship departs, so we will have parts of two days (Sat and Sun) to do a little sightseeing.

I am thinking that we should probably try to spend the night Saturday somewhat close to the port, but maybe that is not the best plan of action.

Any hotel recommendations?
Any activity recommendations?

When the cruise ends two weeks later docking early in the morning on Sunday, we were thinking of flying to Iguazu, departing AEP on a noon departure, spending three nights, then flying back Wednesday, spending one more night in Buenos Aires. On Thursday, bus to Mendoza. On Friday, bus to SCL, then fly back to ATL on Sunday.

Any comments, suggestions, recommendations would be welcome. But especially looking for recommendations for hotel and activities for our short time in Buenos Aires, as well as for the short time in Santiago.

What´s your price range for the hotels ?

I never paid cash for the Park Hyatt as all my stays have been free. It is rather nice although the standard rooms are overpriced in my opinion. The suites however are top notch. If you're Diamond you'll be well looked after....if not I would look elsewhere for value.

I have stayed in the Novotel and I have to say it is a very good value priced hotel. It has a nice garden with pool and decent restaurant in the back. Rooms a bit small but very adequate and good at the price.

I was hoping to keep in in the US$100 range. I see Recoleta hotels on Hotwire said to be 3 1/2 stars for $65-75/night. I wonder if I can trust the star ratings. In the US, that would be fine. We just need a place to stay for one night before the cruise that is clean and decent.

So let's say the target is $100 with up to $120 OK.

At that price point, I highly recommend the Hotel Tryp.

I dont mean to sound contrarian... but listing the Buenos Aires PH as one of the best in the world is a very very very 'risque' statement. Its a nice hotel yes, but there is no chance in hell that the service level of the staff can compete with the flagship/jewels of the Hyatt Chain.... sad for me to say it, but EZE doesnt have the hotel staff to compete with the best CS levels that are required for any Hotel to be one of the best in the world... so no matter how nice the hotel rooms can be, if you dont have the service to match, you just cant compete.

As a Hyatt Diamond, I was treated very well. Amazing suite upgrade, great breakfast. Bottle of wine.....

I would not say it was the level of PH Paris but close. Better than PH Milan. But again, people have diff experiences at diff hotels

I agree... I guess we all have a different "experience matrix" that is configured differently.

I'd go with Park Hyatt as well.

I'm starting by trying out Vain Boutique Hotel in Palermo and finishing up at Park Tower to take advantage of Starwood's late check out before my evening flight.

I've booked a night at the Bo Bo hotel in Palermo early next month. Will post back with some feedback afterwards.

Those bus trips are pretty long to take in quick succession. (13 hours and 8 hours) I might recommend a day stopover in Mendoza, go visit a nice winery or two, get a bife de lomo dinner.

BoBo hotel feedback
 

Stayed in the BoBo hotel earlier this week. Old building with 2 rooms in the old part of the building. Both individual and different sizes but comfortable beds. Bathrooms on the small side with almost no flat space to put anything down. No plug for sink or facecloth which made shaving a bit of a bore...
The hotel really seems to believe its own publicity and some staff were rather condescending (not impressed with attitude at breakfast) others however were very helpful and storing luggage was no problem. We had a meal in the restaurant on arrival (thunderstorm made going out unattractive). It was OK but we did much better for less money locally the next night.
Overall OK - nice alternative to a chain hotel but would probably try somewhere different next time
