Argentina visa question

I am flying from RIO to MVD in Uruguay and then going to Buenos by bus and boat my question is do I need a visa or do I need to pay the $ 150 reciprocatory fees please advice

if you have a us pp, you probably will have to get the visa.....however, i haven't entered by boat from mvd....

I believe you do NOT have to pay the reciprocity fee. I believe the reciprocity fee is currently only assessed for international arrivals into EZE (and, maybe, AEP). In March, I flew into SCL then took a bus to MDZ and them flew MDZ-AEP-FTE/FTE-AEP and I never had to pay the Argentina reciprocity fee or get a visa in advance (I'm a US passport holder).

There's a lot of info on the Destinations - South America - Argentina forum, like this thread: Reciprocity Fee for Americans at BA airports now $US 160

Also, this thread probably belongs in that forum.

Just to clarify that for US citizens it is not a visa - only a fee assessed at certain points of entry. One important difference in this is that - unlike a visa, which you'd need to arrange ahead - whether the fee applies or not, you should have no trouble crossing the border on arrival (just paying the fee if they assess it, and not worrying for now if they don't).

For what it's worth, I don't think land/water entries have been subjected to the fee yet, but I haven't crossed the border that way in awhile, and I've already paid the applicable reciprocity fee, so I shouldn't need to worry for awhile.

If you are travelling on a passport which comes under the reciprocity fee you only have to pay it when arriving at EZE or AEP from another country. If you're arriving into the country by road or by sea then you don't need to pay it.

Hiddy, has it been confirmed that if you arrive on a Cruise Ship to the Port of Buenos Aires you also get a freebie entry...?

Good question.....I've no idea.

I was thinking more of the ferry from Uruguay than the Love Boat.

Not a cruise ship, but...I did NOT have to pay the reciprocity fee when arriving into BA by Buquebus (boat) from Uruguay.

I flew LAN. I paid....too much (~$430/person) - I needed one-way flights on a specific day and preferred time (it was part of my honeymoon) and there weren't very good award options..
