Plane crash in Patagonia kills 22.

A Sol Airlines Saab 340 with 22 people on board crashed last night on a flight from Neuquen to Comodoro Rivadavia. No-one survived.

More here.

With a baby on board, how terrible, I feel for all those who lost a loved one.

I was skyping with my girlfriend when she saw that pop up on the news.

Any updates on what caused the crash?

The usual rumours have started. Icing, poor maintenance, etc.

Whatever it was that caused it must have been catastrophic by the look of the crash site....nothing at all left of it.

Right. I just read on cnn that "officials" said there was inclement weather at the crash site. Also the pilot had issued a distress signal shortly before going off the radar.

Its always unnerving listening to how these unfold. I hope they can find out the real reason.

The plane didn't crater but there's nothing much left.

Sol is owned by a Family from Cordoba with various business interests... they have a long reputation for being serious business-people. I guess we will have to wait and see what the accident report says.... the aircraft is one of the safest planes in service, so I agree that the issue of maintenance has to be looked into seriously.
