I dont have a ticket yet. I try to fly Aerolineas Argentinas every time but since the pilot strike in 05 I was stranded for 3 days because someone thought their interests were more important than mine, I started flying LAN regularly. Now I heard of more strikes recently in LAN so I really dont know what airline I will choose.
Do any of you know of a decent priced airline or travel agency I can use??
My dehumidifier will most likely stay in Argentina.
As far as buying one there, I am sorry but I trust something bought in the states a lot more than anything I could purchase there for the same price.

All the well known brands of electrical goods can be purchased here so I don't see your reasoning against wanting to buy one here. Even if it costs a few $ more it would save you a hell of a lot of hassle.

Indeed.....always worth paying the premium for a direct flight.

LAN has MIA to EZE direct flights and is you best choice.... strikes on LAN are not a common occurence, you will be fine.

Forget Aerolineas Argentinas..... it pains me to say this but they are a pathetic airline... best avoided.

As usual, Hiddy is correct.... Gesselman, dont forget that nowadays, 99% of all houshold goods are OEMed in China or Vietnam or Thailand or somewhere in the far east... it doesnt matter where you buy it, in the end it gets made pretty much in the same place.

Also, you are forgetting that if you buy it here in Argentina, you can forget the need (and the expense) of those voltage converters that are also a pain in the rear to carry around, etc. etc. etc.

Well is not the same... everything is made in China, but they have different quality grades...

Gesellman, if the dehumidifier weight less than 70lbs, with AA you will have to pay $50 (from 50 to 70lbs), if is more (70 to 100lbs) you will have to pay $100.
Please try to avoid AR (Aerolineas Argentinas), use AA (American Airlines) or LAN Airlines.

Sure, you have different quality grades in China - but this is more of an issue with some products and less in others. Dehumidifiers are less of an issue in my opinion.... actually, the best Dehumidifiers I know are marketed in Europe, Ive never seen anything too impressive in North America (but I could be wrong or not know where to look).
