I slept through it but the mother in law saw her ceiling light swaying and heard odd noises coming from one of her walls. One of the big banks alarm went off and the local casino reported that some of the customers felt sick when the big centre chandelier started moving.....not alcohol related either I believe.

Considering we are well over 1000km from the area it's frightening to think what it was like for the poor people of Chile.......horrible to see the damage it has caused.

Cool 4 pictures

I wish to thank all the posters here who helped me decide how to spend my extra time in Argentina. Here are 4 pictures (of the very many I took!!) which show the highlights of my trip to this wonderful and spectacular country!

I hope it inspires others to visit

Iguazu falls

Perito Merino Glacier, near El Calafate

Mt Fitzroy overlooking the town of El Chalten, 220km north of El Calafate

Plaza de Mayo, Buenos Aires

Canon EOS 40D - the camera you used to take a photo of us at your shop I'm a real amateur when it come to photography; even worse when it comes to editing What I posted, is what I shot, completely unedited

did you end up booking your tours with SouthRoad? I was looking at their website and they seem to have very good prices.

If not, did you just book tours when you got to the location? Did you have any problems with availability?

Thanks for the input ...

For Iguazu, I booked the tour for "ride under the falls" at the Sheraton where I was staying. I didn't end up using SouthRoad for El Calafate as I had to either transfer USD from a US bank account (which I don't have), or pay via credit card with a significant card surcharge. I ended up using http://www.argentina2rs4u.com.ar/ mainly as they allowed me to pay in cash when I arrived in BsAs, and the rep brought the travel documents to my hotel which was convenient and I paid her in USD then...there was a (obviously) mark up as she organised all the tours through the local El Calafate agents but as I was short of time, and wanted to guarantee a spot, swallowed these charges. The cheapest way is to book on arrival with the local El Calafate agents of which there are many in the main street....the drawback is if time is short, you want to guarantee your spot in advance...
