50% off quark expeditions bookings Nov 30 - Dec 11, 2008

Seems like quite a good promo unfortunately I don't have any vacation time during that period. Here's the text of the email:

From time to time, we offer members of our online community special fares. A reduction of 50% off the brochure rate is available for a limited time on our Classic Antarctica voyage to the Peninsula from November 30 to December 11, 2008.

You'll sail aboard Clipper Adventurer, our elegant expedition ship. Onboard Zodiacs will be used to transfer you ashore, and for ocean-level sight-seeing cruises in secluded bays.
Please note: This offer applies to new bookings only.
To take advantage of this rare opportunity, please contact our office at 1-800-356-5699, or at +1-203-852-5580, or at [email protected], and refer to the "50% Off Online Community" offer.

you beat me to it, greg999!

it does seem like a good deal, in my case it's just a question of whether this is a trip we want to take, whether it's a trip we want to take with quark and whether it's a trip we want to take now...i haven't seen a single report from anyone who's ever been to antarctica that didn't rave about it.

hmmmm.

Just a word of warning. The first trip out can be a problem. Did the first trip in Nov. 2008. Almost didn't get to land on actual Antarctica. The sea ice was thick and we couldn't get ashore in many areas. Our ship made all our landings but 9 out of ten were on Antarctic islands.
