First B737-300 in the world to be scrapped I believe http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Amazing how hopeless management can turn a national icon into nothing. Amazing, the power of destructive Kiwi egos too. If anything, I hope this has knocked a good deal of sense into, and a lot of dead wood out of NZ.

Don't get too excited about SQ building a new airline too soon. Think about it, out of all the Star Alliance carriers, who needs a domestic carrier least?

If you were the Singaporean Government, with the aviation industry worldwide in the state it is, is a new airline the best investment to be made?

Food for thought.

Dunno, I was wondering the same thing. They are former AN aircraft, so perhaps the owner of the page was using them as a depositry for pics taken at BNE.

Those pictures of the Varig jet are taken at Melbourne outside the main AN maintenance base. Varig has several 737-33As which AN also flew.

The last few pictures are of an Airbus A340-600 brake test gone wrong.

I wonder if the SQ "snippets" on starting up here were simply a way to help DJ secure the SYD terminal space at the right price - especially with SQ being a shareholder in VS?

It looks like AN II (or III) never had a chance... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
